A new report from a renowned insider gives Call of Duty: Warzone fans details about the sequel’s map and reveals a swim mechanic.
Call of Duty: Warzone fans have received confirmation that a sequel will be released at the same time Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 later this year. Apart from that, however, all the details about the new Call of Duty: Warzone remain unofficial, with fans having to rely entirely on leaks.
Thankfully, there have been some incredibly interesting leaks about it Call of Duty: Warzone 2† The game will presumably feature a map similar to Blackout, which could consist of iconic locations from the original Modern Warfare trilogy. Armor will also presumably resemble the Blackout system, with an interrogation feature also suggested through leaks. There are also rumors of Pro Perks, and with this information mentioned by Tom Henderson, fans have reason to believe it could be true.
While all rumors should be taken with a grain of salt, Henderson has proven to be accurate and predictable on several occasions. Duty and Battlefield features while leaking games like Quantic Dream’s Star Wars: Eclipse† Henderson’s latest teasers come from an image posted to his Twitter account, with the image offering a glimpse of the upcoming Call of Duty: Warzone 2 Map. Henderson also teases about swimming, which would be a logical addition.
Based on Henderson’s drawing (which is next to a Call of Duty: Vanguard that is a disc used as a coaster for drinks), the top right corner of the map will feature a modern city. This should be especially exciting for those who loved Verdansk and wanted it to return. To the left of this town you will probably see a quarry, with caves in the center of the map. While there will certainly be many places of interest within these areas, this vague sketch suggests a diverse play space with a good dose of verticality.
While the original Call of Duty: Warzone lacked swimming mechanics, Treyarch’s Duty games have since featured swimming in online play Black Ops 3so it wouldn’t be shocking to see it being introduced in war zone† If Henderson’s outline of the map proves to be accurate, swimming will also be a very necessary feature, as there is apparently “a lot of sea” in the southern part of the map. If access to this wetland area is accessible and includes some landmarks everywhere, it could add a new dynamic to matches, with players swimming from place to place and having end battles in some waters. Sea vehicles such as boats are also possible.
Of Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2‘s full disclosure supposedly imminent, details about Call of Duty: Warzone‘s successor could also be coming soon. Until Activision provides official information, however, fans can expect more such leaks to appear online.
Call of Duty: Warzone 2 is in development for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X.
