Tuesday 17 May Solution guide

Welcome back, Word Searchers! It’s Tuesday and it’s beautiful outside and even though summer doesn’t officially start until June 21, it still feels like it does.

The nice thing about Wordle is that it is a fast, uncluttered game with only one answer per day. You’re not tied to your phone for too long, and then you go about your day – hopefully outside, into nature and enjoying this great weather. (Well, I hope you’re having great weather anyway…).

The current Wordle is #332, which is a bit crazy when you think about it. There are a total of 2,309 Wordle answers, which means we only have 15% of the total number of Wordle answers. The game has only been going since October 2021 and there are more than six years of Wordle answers to peruse. I imagine I am writing the 2309th guide. † † in my late 40s!

Okay, that’s a dark path I don’t want to go down right now. Birds are chirping outside. The sun shines. We don’t have to think about aging and the passage of time. Let’s go to today’s Wordle instead.

Wordle #332 Today’s Hint & Answer

As always, spoilers ahead. I wouldn’t want to be spoiled for reading a Wordle answering guide!

First the hint:

The act of simply existing.

And the answer is. † † †

So my opening guess was pretty good, but just didn’t stick with the landing. According to Wordlebot, plate will normally reduce the possible solutions to just 89, but today it fell short to 178. Ouch! Crane, would have been better of course.

Wordle Bot didn’t like my next guess. Apparently I should have gone dinner instead of Adieu even though I’ve reduced the possible solutions here from 178 to only 7. I don’t see how dinner would have done better, but I think most of the time it would.

exits wasn’t a good choice, and Wordle Bot absolutely knocked me down for this. Management would have been better, and I agree, though I didn’t think of it management then! If I had, it would have given me almost every letter I needed and made the correct answer obvious. My guess narrowed possible answers to just 5, but that’s still too many.

Fortunately, my next guess was the right one – a “lucky guess,” as Wordle Bot is quick to remind me. Other possible answers for this guess were: pretend, neigh, rule, and weigh. Think I got lucky!

The word being is quite interesting. It can refer to a noun – a creature, maybe a creature from another planet – or it can be used as a verb. The act of just being is quite zen when you think about it. But you could also say, “You’re mean and I don’t like it, please stop.” That’s a little less peaceful, but certainly useful when we need to communicate. It’s softer than saying You’re mean or you are a mean person. the softer being implies that it is a temporary condition; you are being mean instead of you to be mean.

Anyway, have a great Tuesday, Wordlers! Be excellent to each other.
