Lake Originally launched in September 2021 on Steam and Epic Games for Microsoft Windows, it was added to Microsoft’s Xbox Game Pass subscription service in December 2021 on Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S. PlayStation players will be able to enjoy the unique experience the game offers when it goes on sale from April 8, 2022.

Players unfamiliar with Lake can expect a narrative adventure that combines social choices, romance, driving and mail delivery. A relatively short game, Lake offers players a few hours of relaxing and humble gameplay that takes them on a peaceful, narrative journey through the fictional town of Providence Oaks. Fans of relaxing simulators like Animal Crossing: New Horizons or Stardew Valley and story games like life is strange or fire watch sowould the subtlety of Lake‘s relaxed progression and game mechanics.

Set in 1986, the slice of life simulator takes on the role of Meredith Weiss, who returns from the city to her hometown to trade her busy career at a software company for her father, the local postman. During her two-week stay in the rural Oregon game of a small town, she will meet old friends and new faces. Players can decide who to talk to, befriend and perhaps choose to start a romantic relationship with. Without revealing too much about the plot, players will be left with Meredith’s dilemma of either returning to her big city life or staying in her hometown to build her new and old relationships.

Lake has received mostly positive reviews from gamers and critics alike, many of whom were impressed with its 80s feel, cozy experience, scenic setting, fantastic voice acting and writing. Lake currently sits at a score of 71/100 on Metacritic.

Lake is available now for PC, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S and will be released on April 8, 2022 for PS5 and PS5.
