Nintendo has just unveiled the two Nopon party members that players will be spending so much time with in Xenoblade Chronicles 3. The game is coming to Nintendo Switch on July 29, 2022. The company is slowly but surely releasing information about the upcoming title over the course of the past month on its Japanese Twitter account.
The translations in this particular case come from Perfectly Nintendo. The two party members in question, Riku and Manana, will join players in battle, but instead of fighting separately, the pair will apparently team up to take out enemies.
Riku is described as “a Nopon from Colony 9 in Keves (like Noah and his friends) who has rather thick eyebrows. Back at the colony, he is a mechanic responsible for both crafting items and maintaining the Iron Giant. He is an enthusiastic Nopon who always keeps a cool head no matter the situation and the advice he gives Noah and the others is worth taking to heart.” Colony 9 was a location of great importance in Xenoblade Chronicles.
When it comes to Manana, Nintendo describes the character as “a Nopon who hails from Agnus and a companion of Mio and the others. If her chef wasn’t clear enough already, cooking is her specialty. Her skills are unmatched and that’s why no big surprise that she was in charge of cooking in her former colony.” The company added that “Manana will undoubtedly brighten up your travels with her cheerful personality.”
Nintendo previously revealed a cutscene, some info on the combat mechanics and a close look at two of the regions in Xenoblade Chronicles 3, Millick Meadows and Eagus Wilderness.
While the game will be rated “T for Teen,” Xenoblade Chronicles 3 will apparently feature “deep cleavage” and “partially exposed breasts,” according to a statement from the Entertainment Software Rating Board. “This is a role-playing game where players follow fighters in a conflict between two nations,” the group explains. “From a third-person perspective, players complete quests and engage in melee combat against enemies (e.g. animals, creatures, human bosses). Battles are emphasized by impact sounds, explosions and screams of pain. Cutscenes show other examples of violence: characters impaled by a sword, a character shooting himself off the screen, a man stabbing himself off screen. A handful of scenes show blood (e.g. drops falling from an injured character, drops of blood on a character’s face).”
