Iraqi National, accused of plotting Bush assassination, requested asylum from Biden’s DHS while visitor visa stayed too long

An Iraqi citizen charged with conspiracy to assassinate former President George W. Bush has filed for asylum with President Joe Biden’s Department of Homeland Security (DHS) while staying too long and violating the terms of his visitor visa, the Department confirms of Justice (DOJ).

Shihab Ahmed Shihab Shihab, a 52-year-old Iraqi national, has been arrested and charged with complicity in a plot to assassinate Bush with the help of IS agents he planned to smuggle across the United States-Mexico border.

Shihab had reportedly bragged about smuggling two Hezbollah terrorists into the US for $100,000. Likewise, he claimed to have assisted in the killing of American citizens in Iraq from 2003 to 2006.

According to DOJ prosecutors, Shihab first arrived in the US in September 2020 on a B-1/B-2 visitor visa. In March 2021, Shihab filed for asylum with Biden’s DHS in a bid to stay in the US permanently while his visitor visa, which is only valid for 180 days, remains longer.

DOJ prosecutors also allege that Shihab apparently violated the terms of his visitor visa by holding jobs at restaurants in the Columbus, Ohio and Indianapolis, Indiana areas.

While in the US, Shihab is accused of taking tens of thousands of dollars in October and December 2021 from a person he believes was an ISIS agent seeking to be smuggled across the southern border. The agent was an undercover FBI agent.

Today, there are between five and six million illegal aliens who first came to the US with a visa, but have since overstayed their visa and have not been deported themselves. As Breitbart News previously reported, on seven of the September 19, 2001, hijackers overstayed their visas before or at the time of the terrorist attacks.

The latest available DHS data for visa overruns, from 2019, showed that more than 676,000 foreign nationals overstayed their visa in one year. The federal government has yet to complete a full biometric entry/exit system that would track all visa violations and deport them from the US if they violated the terms of their visas.

Since Biden took office in January 2021, 42 illegal aliens on the FBI’s Terrorist Watch List or No-Fly List have been detained on the southern border. In April 2021, two illegal aliens from Yemen arrived at the border. Both were on the Terrorism Watch List and the No-Fly List.

Secretary of Homeland Security (DHS), Alejandro Mayorkas, could not definitively say at a congressional hearing in April that none of those 42 illegal aliens on the FBI Terrorist Watch List or No-Fly List detained at the border were in the border. US was released interior.
