Elden Ring: Millicent Quest Guide

Elden Ring can be quite confusing, and if you’ve played any of the From Software Souls games, Bloodborne, or even Sekiro, you’ll be familiar with that. Deliberately stupid and almost comically unpredictable, the Millicent quest is no different. If you’re struggling to complete Millicent’s missions, that’s understandable. From starting in Caelid to seeing her story many hours later, here’s everything you need to know about completing Millicent’s questline in Elden Ring. Not so bad if you have a little guidance, right?

Find and speak with Gowry

To begin Millicent’s quest, you must first talk to an old fellow named Gowry who hangs out in a cabin in the east of Caelid along the road to Sellia, Town of Sorcery. Take advantage of his dialogue about the Unalloyed Gold Needle he’s looking for, then head to the nearby swaps to pick it up.

Defeat Commander O’Neil

To get the Unalloyed Gold Needle, take out Commander O’Neil in the swamp just west of Gowry’s cabin. It won’t be an easy fight, but you can check out our tips for taking him down to make it a little less strenuous. Once he’s dead and you’ve got your hands on the Unalloyed Gold Needle, you’re all set to return to Gowry.

Visit Gowry twice

Return to Gowry and exhaust his dialogue once more, then quickly travel to the nearest Site of Grace and run back to him one more time. After this, he will hand you the repaired needle and give you some insight into the secrets of Sellia, Town of Sorcery. Next, head to the Church of the Plague to find Millicent and officially begin her quest.

Talk to Millicent at the Church of the Pest

To reach the Church of the Pest, you must make your way through Sellia, Town of Sorcery by lighting all the braziers and defeating the area boss. If you teleported to the Beastial Sanctum earlier in the game, you can also quickly travel to that Site of Grace and head south to reach the church.

Once you get there you will find Millicent. Give her the needle, then rest at the nearby Site of Grace to reset her dialogue. After talking to her enough, she’ll eventually give you the Prosthesis-Wearer Heirloom talisman and you’ll have completed the first part of her quest. To continue, you must return to Gowry’s Shack one more time.

Go back to Gowry’s Shack one more time

On your next visit to Gowry’s Shack, you’ll find that Millicent has now turned up and has some things to talk about. Stop her dialogue, quickly travel away, then head back to the cabin to see that Gowry has returned. If you also exhaust his dialogue, you will have completed the Caelid segment of Millicent’s story.

Find the Walküre prosthesis in the Shaded Castle

To continue Millicent’s quest, you must first visit the Shaded Castle, which lies far to the north between Mount Gelmir and the Altus Plateau. Fight your way through the area until you find a small room guarded by a Cleanrot Knight. Inside the room, you’ll find the Valkyrie’s Prosthesis, which you can use to advance Millicent’s dialogue at her new location, Altus Plateau.

Talk to Millicent on Altus Plateau

Head to the Erdtree-Gazing Hill Site of Grace in Altus Plateau and find Millicent just north of where you spawn. Give her the Valkyrie prosthesis, exhaust her dialogue. Then head north again to defeat and boss and talk to Millicent one more time.

Go to the Windmill Village and defeat the Godskin Apostle

To the north of Altus Plateau is the Windmill Village, an area with a fairly simple gauntlet of eerie enemies and the Godskin Apostle boss at the top. The Godskin Apostle is a challenging fight for lower level characters, but he shouldn’t pose a long-term problem once you’ve memorized his attack patterns.

Once the Godskin Apostle falls, rest at the nearby Site of Grace. When you get back up, you’ll see Millicent standing with more dialogue to draw from. Do that and you’ll have completed the part of her quest set on Altus Plateau. You won’t find her again until you make your way to the late-game Mountaintops of the Giants area.

Talk to Millicent in the Mountaintops of the Giants

Late in the main story you gain access to the mountain peaks of the giants. Millicent can be found in this biome next to the Snow Valley Ruins Site of Grace. She has something to say here, so exhaust all her dialogue and prepare to round two halves of a medallion needed to reach the Haligtree area.

Find both halves of the Haligtree medallion

Part of the Haligtree Medallion can be found on top of Castle Sol after defeating Commander Niall in the northeast of the Mountaintops of the Giants. The other requires you to hit a strange pot in the village of Albinaurics in the south of Liurnia of the Lakes. If you do, you will discover that the jar was just a disguise for a decrepit old man who will give you the other half of the locket.

Go to the Haligtree

Once you have both halves, you will be in possession of the complete Haligtree Medallion. You can use this medallion at the Grand Lift of Rold – the same elevator that took you to the first part of the Mountaintops of the Giants – to go to a new frigid area of the biome.

Ordina, Laturgical City
Ordina, Laturgical City

Make your way north of this new section and solve the relatively easy puzzle in Ordina, Liturgical Town (very similar to how you completed Sellia, Town of Sorcery). You’ll soon find your way to the Haligtree.

Talk to Millicent in Grace’s prayer room

As you explore the Haligtree you will eventually come to the prayer room. Near the Site of Grace will be Millicent, so talk to her and again exhaust all her dialogue. She will stay in this spot until you complete the next step. You’re almost done!

Defeat the Ulcerated Tree Spirit at the Drainage Channel Site of Grace

A little further into the Haligtree, you’ll run into one of the disgusting Ulcerated Tree Spirit bosses that everyone hates so much. This monster will be extra hard because of the battle that takes place in a pond which will have the Scarlet Rot status effect on you. If possible, fight him at a distance somehow by using the outer banks.

Ulcerated Tree Spirit Battle

Once the Ulcerated Tree Spirit is dead, rest on the Drainage Channel Site of Grace and prepare for another battle.

Go back to where you killed the Ulcerated Tree Spirit

Go back to where you just killed the Ulcerated Tree Spirit to find a yellow summoning sign and a red summoning sign. The former lets you help Millicent defeat invaders in her world, while the latter gives you the chance to kill her.

If you choose to kill her, you’ll get the Millicent’s Prosthesis talisman, which slightly increases your agility and consecutive attack damage. But in most cases, you’ll want to pick the yellow call sign to help her fend off an ambush.

Kill the invaders

Choose the yellow summoning sign and help Millicent in a difficult confrontation with four NPC invaders. At first glance, it might seem best to try and fill up on one or two and let her handle the others, but she’ll actually die pretty quickly if you do. Instead, help her fight her targets and keep up the pressure until all four invaders are killed. For your effort, you’ll earn the Rotten Winged Sword Insignia talisman, which will boost your attacks with consecutive hits.

Return to Millicent twice to complete the quest

After leaving Millicent’s world, rest again at the Drainage Channel Site of Grace and return to where you just fought the invaders to find Millicent. Stop her dialogue, rest one more time, then come back one last time to find her dead. Looting her body will earn you the Unalloyed Gold Needle. You can use the needle on the flower that spawns in Malenia’s boss battle room after defeating her to get Miquella’s Needle, an important item that can be used in a specific place at the end of the game to reverse the end of the Frenzied Flame. turn. you so choose to do that.
