Paramount Network’s “Yellowstone” is by far the biggest hit on cable TV, and the network renewed the series for a fifth season earlier this year.

The show’s fourth season finale was watched by 9.3 million viewers on January 2 — the largest cable broadcast since 2017. It’s also significantly higher than the 5.2 million viewers who watched the season’s finale on the day it aired. three listened.

Other data shows that “Yellowstone,” which stars Kevin Costner as a powerful rancher, has grown its audience with each season.

Parrot Analytics measures audience demand, which is responsible for the interest in, engagement with, or overall popularity of a TV series. According to Parrot Analytics, audience demand in the US for the full season was four:

  • 32.7% higher than season three demand
  • 126% higher than season two demand
  • 134% higher than the demand of the season

But “Yellowstone” is just one series from its creator, Taylor Sheridan, who is developing several other projects, including those expanding the “Yellowstone” franchise.

Paramount Global – the parent company of Paramount Network, formerly known as ViacomCBS – has announced new details for its ‘Yellowstone’ universe, including that Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren would star in the prequel ‘1932’.

Two other Sheridan shows have already premiered on Paramount+.

platform, even though the streaming rights for “Yellowstone” belong to NBCUniversal’s Peacock, which landed the series in 2020. (Paramount+ launched in March 2021.)

So the first four seasons are available on Peacock; new episodes airing on Paramount Network; and spin-offs are set for Paramount+.

Paramount+ Sheridan’s strategy has been successful so far.

After the “Yellowstone” prequel “1883” debuted on Paramount+ in December, the streamer said it was the most-watched premiere of the original series to date.

After its debut, “1883” was 10.7 times more popular than the average series in the US, comparable to “Yellowstone” season one, according to Parrot Analytics.

And “Mayor of Kingstown,” another Sheridan-created Paramount+ series, was 19.2 times more popular than the average US series since its debut in November, according to Parrot Analytics. That’s closer to the question of “Yellowstone” season three.

The numbers indicate that the “Sheridan universe” has potential to help Paramount+ grow its subscriber base. In the first quarter of this year, Paramount said the service added 7 million subscribers and now has a total of 40 million.
