2022 PGA Championship Odds, Field: Surprising Picks, Predictions Of The Top Golf Model That Won The Masters

The 2022 PGA Championship is full of storylines as golfers gather at Southern Hill Country Club in Tulsa for Thursday’s event. Tiger Woods is making his second PGA Tour start since his serious single-vehicle accident in 2021. Jordan Spieth is also looking to complete his career grand slam. Caesars Sportsbook’s 2022 PGA Championship odds put Woods at 50-1, Spieth at 20-1 and Bryson DeChambeau, who has several injuries, at 65-1. They will chase the 2022 PGA Championship favorites such as Jon Rahm and Scottie Scheffler, the co-favorites at 11-1, and Rory McIlroy and Justin Thomas, both 14-1. Before committing to your own PGA Championship picks for 2022, check out the golf predictions and projected standings from the tried-and-true computer model at SportsLine.

SportsLine’s own model, built by DFS Pro Mike McClure, has been piping hot since the PGA Tour resumed in June 2020. In fact, it has risen over $7,500 on its best bets since then, winning tournament after tournament.

At the 2022 Masters, McClure’s model was everywhere in Scottie Scheffler’s first major championship win over the weekend. In addition, McClure’s best bet was that Collin Morikawa won outright at the 2021 Open Championship, even though he was listed as a huge 40-1 long shot. The model was also Jon Rahm’s (10-1) overall win in his first major career at the 2021 US Open. Rahm was two strokes away from the lead heading into the weekend, but the model still projected him as the winner.

This same model has also completed a whopping eight majors heading into the weekend. Anyone who has followed it has seen huge returns.

As the PGA Championship 2022 field takes shape, SportsLine has simulated the event 10,000 times and the results have been surprising. Visit SportsLine now to see the upcoming 2022 PGA Championship standings.

Top 2022 PGA Championship Predictions

A big surprise the model asks for at the 2022 PGA Championship: Jordan Spieth, a three-time major champion and one of the top favorites, stumbles in Southern Hills and doesn’t even make the top 10. He enters the PGA championship 2022 with a lot of momentum. He won the recent RBC Heritage and finished second to the AT&T Byron Nelson.

But his track record throughout the season isn’t strong out there. He finished out of the top 25 in the previous six tournaments, a stint with two missed cuts, including one at the Masters. He hits the ball far, but not accurately this season, and is ranked 129th in accuracy percentage. The putter has also let him down, as he ranks 175th in strokes in that category, making him a model golfer who will disappear in 2022 PGA Championship betting.

Another surprise: Patrick Cantlay, a 20-1 long shot, makes a strong run for the title. He is a target for anyone looking for a big reward. Few golfers play like Cantlay, who won the better ball section of the Zurich Classic and finished second at the RBC Heritage in mid-April.

Cantlay’s stats on the track were also impressive after averaging nearly six strokes per round in Zurich. For the season, Cantlay ranks eighth in total strokes (1,566) and fifth among all golfers in birdie average per round (4.83).

How to Make PGA Championship Picks for 2022

The model also targets three other golfers with odds of 20-1 or longer who will make surprising runs. Anyone who supports these long shots can hit it big. You can only see them here.
